Over the weekend, Hiverlab was at SAFRA Punggol for the BE @ SAFRA Punggol Open House. For the past couple of months, we have been collaborating with SAFRA Punggol to organise this event.
With four Virtual Reality zones – VR Education, VR Cinema, VR Gaming, and VR Around The World, the event was a great success with over 2,000 visitors trying out virtual reality experiences.
At VR Education, Hiverlab showcased Eyes On Habitat: Coral Reefs, an interactive guided virtual diving session, where visitors learnt about different coral growth forms and identified them in a virtual tour of Sisters’ Island Marine Park.
At VR Cinema, the Hiverlab-produced 360-degree documentary, Against Blue Currents, a short film about 3 persons with disabilities and their personal stories, was screened to 5 – 8 visitors at a time.
At VR Gaming, we worked with Ignite VR, Mixed Realms, and Kaiju Den to showcase a total of 6 games – Fruit Ninja, Cloudlands: VR Minigolf, Final Goalie, Raw Data, Sairento VR, and Stratos Fantasea. An hourly Parent-and-Child challenge was also conducted, with 20 cardboard viewers given away each hour.
At VR Around The World, Hiverlab partnered with Ignite VR and Discovery to share about the VirZOOM cycling experiences and the Discovery VR app.
All in all, the event was a good introduction to virtual reality for both adults and children, and the visitors had a fun time at our VR zones. There are so many directions for virtual reality to develop, and we look forward to further collaborations with SAFRA Punggol!
